The house where the current crop of X Factor contestants are staying is operating a worrying level of perimeter security, it has been claimed.

According to the Daily Star, the luxury £3.5 million mansion in the trendy Mill Hill area of London is encircled by security fencing measuring only two feet tall.

Neighbours are concerned fans could cause serious problems if they descend on the house to visit their heroes.

Last year, the newspaper reported, a dangerous precedent was set when thousands of fans flocked to a London house to catch a glimpse of the stars, scaling walls and leaving grafitti in their wake.

Now, neighbours, some of whom are in their 90s, are worried the chaos will return this year when the 12 X Factor finalists move in next week.

A resident told the newspaper: "We don't want a repeat of last year. You expect that kind of thing in the city but people have moved here for a bit of peace and quiet."

The finalists will be announced on Saturday's show.ADNFCR-3337-ID-800088712-ADNFCR
