Bollards cause havoc for Corby petrol station

Bollards cause havoc for Corby petrol station
Owners of a petrol station in Corby, Northamptonshire, have seen sales figures drop by half since the installation of a set of concrete security bollards.

The Evening Telegraph reported that the Murco garage in Geddington Road has encountered problems ever since the bollards were installed as a way to enforce traffic measures over a weak bridge near to the site.

Abdullatif Bhikha, head of the franchise site in Corby, said he has seen sales plummet as the barriers restrict the amount of heavy goods vehicles that can use the petrol station.

Following prime minister David Cameron's decision to advise people to top up their vehicle amidst strike fears from tanker drivers the country's petrol stations have been inundated with people looking to fill up.

Mr Bhikha told the newspaper: "It [the bollards] has affected us as a business. I’ve spoken to my neighbours and their concerns are exactly the same. So many people are avoiding it."
