A charity in Hull is facing a bill of £1,500 after thieves stole some security bollards during a fundraising event.

The three bollards in Victoria Dock were removed during Jane Tomlinson's Hull 10km to allow thousands of runners to pass through the area but were stolen after being placed on roadside during the race.

Now the charity has received a bill to replace the bollards that were taken from the area. As preparations for this year's event are in full swing, organisers from Jane Tomlinson's Run For All charity are pleading with the public to ensure the thefts do not happen again.

Sara Birkinshaw, event organiser, told the Hull Daily Mail: "As we rely on volunteers to marshal the course, we'll now have to up security in this area to avoid any further losses. We've always loved our race day in Hull but these uncharitable iron thieves have really put a damper on the event, never mind a dent in our pockets."

Elsewhere, in Marlborough a bollard thought to be made from an old cannon has been demolished by a lorry that crashed into it.
