Acoustic fencing could be considered in Chirk after complaints were made about a humming noise from a local factory.

A faulty silencer is thought to be to blame at the Kronospan plant and has caused disturbances to a number of residents at night.

Replacement parts have been ordered and the company believes the problem will be sorted within the next couple of weeks, leaderlive.co.uk reports.

Chirk North councillor and Mayor of Wrexham Ian Roberts told the news provider that the problem has existed for the last ten days.

"I wasn't very happy with the noise but they tell me they've got experts in and in the next fortnight to three weeks we'll all be happier," he said.

"I believe everything is being done to rectify it and I understand they can't do more than they are doing - it's not as simple as sending someone round with a spanner."
