Vandals have landed a non-league Lincolnshire football team with a £1,000 bill following damage on its premises.
Criminals have been targeting security bollards, gutters and fences around Bourne Town FC's Abbey Lawn ground. The Rutland and Stamford Mercury reported that it was the third time in the space of a week that vandals have struck the club's premises.
The club's chairman Nicky Hawkins found that fencing had been damaged behind the goalmouth and the stand was littered with broken glass. On top of this, lights on a number of bollards had been smashed.
Bourne Town, who currently lie 15th in the United Counties Football League, imposed a 22:00 BST curfew in summer to prevent vandalism but this has not stopped the problem.
Bob Lambert, club secretary, told the source: "When the gates are opened later at this time of year it happens every time. I know for a fact the locking of the gates doesn’t deter them. They still get in after the curfew."
