A mother of three children is campaigning for her local council to install play area fencing and equipment to give youngsters somewhere to enjoy.

Jessie Bascombe is calling for Swindon Council to replace green space in Pinehurst with a new playground as a building for the Citizens Advice Bureau is moved elsewhere.

She believes alternative areas of play are too far away for children in Pinehurst to go and use, reports the Swindon Advertiser.

Ms Bascombe told the news provider that criticisms of children getting into trouble are unfair if there are no facilities for them to use and occupy their time with.

"A play area on Linden Green will at least give the kids something else to do. They are forever moaning that the kids are doing this, the kids are doing that - especially the ones aged seven to 11," she said.

"They're always moaning these kids are getting into trouble."

The Department for Education was one of the organisations to provide funding for new play area equipment in Wheathampstead, recently.
