Security fencing will be installed around a new allotment site in Redditch.
According to the Redditch Advertiser, over a hectare of land will be used to create 50 allotments on a 300-acre site at the city's Sambourne Lane.
Farmer Tom Williams, who co-owns the land, told the newspaper he had regularly been asked if some of it could be used for an allotment.
"After making inquiries and finding that there is a lack of secure allotment sites we have decided to do so," he said.
The entire plot will be encircled by 6ft-high security fencing.
Mr Williams also told the newspaper he expected the allotment to garner a lot of interest.
"Allotments are not seen as something just used by old folks anymore.
"Thanks to a number of TV chefs and the popularity of producing your own food we've been getting a lot of younger people showing an interest."
Last month, the user of an allotment in Lincoln, while welcoming some security measures introduced by the police, still felt that security fencing was needed.
"They are certainly a good deterrent, but we could do with help to get better fencing," Betty Robinson told the Lincolnshire Echo.
