Leeds White Rose Centre set for revamp
Leeds' White Rose Shopping Centre is set to undergo a significant revamp as part of an overall upgrade of the facility. The first phase is a
£7 million transformation of the site's food court which will see the creation of numerous restaurants and coffee shops. Among the retailers already named within the plans are
Prezzo, the Handmade Burger Company and Wok '
n' Go, they will join the likes of McDonalds, Costa Coffee and
Nando's which currently occupy the upper level food court. It is not just the dining experience which will be enhanced, as Construction Enquirer reported that developer Land Securities is looking to make an extension to the existing
Primark stores. A planning committee at Leeds City Council is still to make a decision on this latest part of the regeneration and the developer is in talks with a contractor for the project.Morgan Sindall, which is currently in the midst of working on the extension of the food hall, is believed to be leading the way to secure the rest of the expansion. It would mean that the White Rose Shopping Centre would be extended by around 25 per cent making it yet another major attraction for people around Yorkshire.Harlan Pollitt, portfolio manager for Land Securities, told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "It’s exciting times at the White Rose. The start of construction work signifies that the expansion has begun. In no time at all we’re going to be the proud owners of a larger food court which I know all our shoppers will enjoy and appreciate.”Leeds has been making considerable strides to maximise its retail opportunities of late. The city opened the new Trinity shopping centre in March 2013 and there are already plans in place to create the Victoria Gate retail outlet which will take the place of Eastgate Quarters and link with the existing Victoria Quarter.Contact us for a security fencing quote.
