Play area fencing will be installed in the Barrington area after it received funding from several different parties.

£100,000 was given by five charities to help renovate the area's run-down playground, including £35,000 from WREN and £20,000 from the AmeyCespa Community Fund.

Furthermore, £30,000 each from Cemex UK, The Green Charity and Cambridgeshire Community Foundation means that rebuilding work can take place from this month, reports Cambridge-news.co.uk.

Barry Easom, project manager for the playing field project, told the news provider that new facilities will help create a "healthy community".

"Having received a petition from the village children, the parish council has held regular consultation events since 2008 in order to develop the plans and design of the playing field and its new facilities," he explained.

Arbroath will also see new play area fencing erected following a £500,000 grant to help rejuvenate a local park and its surroundings, despite planning disputes.
