A man from the Littlehampton area is to campaign for sports netting funding to stop youngsters from hitting footballs over a nearby youth centre.
Andy Moir believes that netting should be placed around the Keystone Centre in Wick after he challenged a number of youths who were sending their balls over the fence.
Because of council budgets remaining tight, Mr Moir will have to do the majority of the fundraising himself and will begin by holding boot fairs, reports the Littlehampton Gazette.
Mike Northeast, who is management committee chairman of the centre, told the news provider that the centre itself is in "dire financial straits".
"All our efforts are going into keeping the centre open, as the county council is funding only one session per week now," he said.
"It always used to be open every night and if we had the funding to do that again, the problems Andy and his neighbours have been having wouldn't be as bad."
Banstead will also require sports netting in the coming years after plans for a new £6.6 million leisure centre were given the go-ahead.
