Security fencing is at the centre of an argument between residents and a power substation, which was broken into.
Last month thieves broke into the substation in Hull and stole copper wire causing electrical items in over 200 homes to be damaged by a subsequent power surge, reported Hull Daily Mail.
In response to this, angry residents have asked CE Electric UK for compensation on the basis that its security fencing was anything but secure.
John Nicholson, a councillor, has taken on the task of representing the homeowners and has argued that the fence does not meet regulation requirements.
He told the newspaper: "The fence wasn't that high [2.4 metres] and it wasn't a fence at all. It was just some chicken wire surrounding the substation."
A spokesperson for CE Electric UK countered this claim by stating that the power station "is surrounded by a six-foot security fence".
Thieves recently broke into Tata steelworks in Scunthorpe stealing up to £500,000 worth of scrap metal, highlighting the need for high security fencing.
