High security fencing could be required around a car park on a British seafront after travellers set up camp on the land.

A number of caravans are now placed on land at Hayling Island after arriving at the bottom of Chichester Avenue last week (August 19th).

Officials from Havant Borough Council have attended the site because it comes under their responsibilities and have assessed the needs of the group, reports haylingtoday.co.uk.

The news provider reports that this is the second time travellers have set up camp on the site, after caravans stayed for two weeks in July.

An official from the council said that the public toilets would be kept open all day to ensure that the site stayed as tidy as possible.

Security bollards may be placed in Littlemore after travellers built a camp in the town earlier this month, including six vehicles and two caravans, leading to criticism from locals.
