Firms in Northern Ireland have been urged to check their site security fencing is secure following recent thefts in Foyle, Derry/Londonderry.
Two thefts of oil have taken place in the Campsie Industrial Estate in the past few weeks, the Londonderry Sentinel reports.
Now police are calling on business owners to take regular steps to ensure their sites are as protected as possible.
These include checking perimeter security fencing, undertaking reviews of storage systems and locations for oil and diesel, and that tanks and drums are locked away securely.
"Regular patrols of rural and local business areas by our neighbourhood and response officers are a deterrent however, we need the help of the general public, particularly those in the commercial and farming sectors," a police spokesperson told the newspaper.
This month, the inadequate construction of security fencing was reported to be responsible for dogs entering a deer enclosure in Stoke Newington, panicking the animals and causing them to injury themselves.
