A charity that was charged £1,500 after thieves stole security bollards during a 10k run in Hull has had the bill paid by an anonymous company.
It was reported by the Hull Mail yesterday (January 10th) that the Jane Tomlinson Appeal charity had been sent a bill by the council after thieves stole bollards that had been removed to make way for the course.
A company has now offered to pay for new bollards and install them free of charge and Hull City Council said race organisers had "accepted responsibility".
Sara Birkinshaw, event organiser, told the BBC: "It wasn't something we were expecting so early on in January but we'd rather [thefts] didn't happen again this year but we've been very fortunate that in the last 24 hours a company has actually come forward to pay for the bollards and install them for free."
The Jane Tomlinson Appeal raises money for children's and cancer charities. More than 5,000 runners are expected to take part in this year's event.
