A councillor is calling for crash barriers to be installed on a stretch of road in Swindon labelled an accident blackspot.
According to the Swindon Advertiser, Peter Colmer wants to ensure the A419 is made safer after fatalities on the road.
Last month, a tractor driver died in a six-vehicle pile-up and last year a 63-year-old man lost his life at exactly the same spot when he crashed into the back of a lorry as its driver attempted a U-turn.
The Highways Agency has banned U-turns on the road but Mr Colmer feels more measures are needed.
Mr Colmer wants three crossing points along the road closed given the speed that cars travel along it.
"It is a highly dangerous stretch of road and it has no central crash barriers, which makes it more unsafe," he told the newspaper.
"Barriers need to be put there along with a proper central reservation."
Recently, it was reported that crash barriers would be installed near a school in Melton, Yorkshire, to protect children after safety concerns.
