The Gate Safe campaign has introduced two new sets of guidelines to promote safety in gate automation.

Following the death of Ronald Hayward, a 42-year-old delivery driver who died after being crushed by an automated gate, the group believe that it has only highlighted the importance of safety guidelines.

Mr Hayward's death could now prove to be the stimulus for new guidelines, which the campaign is aiming to bring in. The group has announced the introduction of the Gate Safe Physical and the Get Safe Simple Checks guidelines.

Both of these help owners to see if their gate is compliant with all current safety recommendations.

Richard Jackson, CEO at Jacksons Fencing, told Info4Security: "The Gate Safe campaign has always focused heavily on the need to raise awareness of gate automation safety, and to educate all those involved in the automated gate sector to ensure that there is compliance at every stage of the installation."
