Parents of disabled children throughout the Elstree area have expressed their delight at a new facility in the area.

Aldenham Country Park has provided the setting for the construction, which features a range of services surrounded by play area fencing.

Children are able to use climbing frames as well as a sand pit and zipwire, thanks to funding supplied by charity KIDS with assistance from Hertfordshire County Council.

Mother Saulan Suen said she had been dreaming of a facility such as this since her 14-year-old son was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

"To have a play area for Theo with things like a zipwire, which they have in regular playgrounds where Eric plays, means so much," she commented.

Access ramps and enough space for wheelchairs mean that the siblings of disabled children can also join in the fun, which is possible whatever the weather thanks to an additional indoor play area.
