Play area fencing could be installed in Burton in the coming months after dog owners were warned to pick up their animals following dog fouling.

The Newton Solney has now become a problem area, according to local officials, after the children's playground was left with dog mess.

Furthermore, owners are being warned that they are causing a danger to public health if they leave dog excrement on the ground, advising them instead to pick it up, reports the Burton Mail.

A spokesman for Newton Solney Parish Council told the news provider that the current situation is "unacceptable".

"Owners are requested to respect the field and play area, keep dogs on a leash and clear up any mess after them," he explained.

"We have informed the council and anyone caught in the act will end up with a fine when the guilty party is apprehended."

Meanwhile, residents in Newbury are campaigning for new play area fencing to improve safety at the site.
