A junior football club has installed metal barriers in order to stop dog walkers letting their animals foul on some of its playing pitches.

Sheffield-based Tickhill Juniors FC has had problems at its pitches for some time, according to the Star.

One field, off Worksop Road, contains a number of pitches that were established several years ago.

But there have been persistent problems with dog owners allowing their pets to foul the land, leading to youngsters getting excrement on their boots and clothing.

Appeals by the club asking owners to act responsibility went unheeded, so it is now hoped the metal barriers, coupled with padlocked steel gates, will stop the problem once and for all.

Recently, a primary school in Gloucestershire put up barriers to stop dog owners allowing their pets to foul its playing field.

Cirencester Primary pupils had been unable to use the field because of excessive fouling, the Wilts and Gloucestershire standard reports.
