A new venture has been set up at the Lloyd Park Children's Centre, which aims to teach children about nature within the confines of play area fencing.

The Grow Wild garden has a range of features to help kids learn, including shrubs, a wetland area, fruit trees and wooden play equipment.

More than 100 children and their parents attended the opening ceremony on September 30th, which has been hailed a success by organisers, reports the East London and West Essex Guardian.

Penny Montague, the centre's project development officer, said: "It was brilliant, we had a nature hunt, tree planting, leaf printing and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves."

It recently emerged that campaigners in Newbury are appealing against a decision for play area fencing not to be installed at a local park.

Victoria Park was recently refurbished, but the local council believes security fencing could inhibit future redevelopment plans, reveals Newbury Today.
