A horse that had become trapped in security fencing near a railway line in Burnley has been rescued.
According to the Burnley Citizen, the two-year-old horse trapped all four legs in the fence off Robinson Lane, Reedley.
Fire crews spent an hour working to free the horse but as she was freed she panicked and became trapped again.
Gary Ibbitson, watch manager at Nelson fire station, told the newspaper: "As we walked along the path we could see that the horse was well and truly trapped, with all four legs through the metal slats of the fence.
"We decided to remove the metal fence slats to free her legs."
Last year, a farm in Scotland used a cash grant to put up rabbit and deer-proof security fencing to protect new woodland.
Jason McCran, of Rosemay Farm in Leadburn, said the fencing would mean the planting of hedges could go on unhindered.
