People throughout Huyton have expressed their delight at a new recreational facility, complete with play area fencing

The play area is situated within McGoldrick Park and cost around £50,000 to complete, with local schoolchildren submitting ideas for the design of the attraction.

Councillor Eddie Connor, Knowsley's cabinet member for leisure, community and culture, said the project had been made possible through funding secured by the Friends of McGoldrick and Sawpit parks.

"At McGoldrick, our children had many great ideas which have been reflected in the final design. This new-look play area will be well used and a great addition to the park," he commented.

Other features of the new park include trees, seating, surfacing and play equipment.

Warrington Borough Council recently went in search of a name for a new play facility in the town before it opens in the New Year.

The area has been set up to cater for children with disabilities.
