Parents in the estate of Eldene in Swindon could fight to save play area fencing after local authorities threatened to close the space.
According to the Swindon Advertiser, the Collingsmead Play Area, which is recognisable for its large diamond-shaped climbing frame, was inspected by the council and deemed unsafe for use.
However, it refuses to pay the £20,000 it says will be needed to make the necessary improvements.
A dad-of-two, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "It's pretty upsetting for a lot of people. This hexagonal climbing frame is really well built and it is next to the school so a lot of kids use it all the time."
The Halifax Courier recently reported that play area fencing could be installed in an attempt to improve up to 12 outdoor children's spaces in Yorkshire, after Calderdale Council announced it has set aside £500,000 to make the playgrounds more comfortable for kids.
