Residents in Oxford are calling for the reinstatement of parking barriers in their town after car parking was taken out for a new cycle lane.
Around a dozen spaces are thought to be going in east Oxford as Oxfordshire County Council looks at creating a new 700 metre cycle lane along Iffley Road.
Oxford Mail reports that residents are not happy with the decision but that there are 40 different disabled and temporary parking bays still available along the road.
One local resident, Adrian Greenwood, told the news provider that the move will "severely reduce parking spaces" for residents.
"This will inevitably increase speeding vehicles in the Iffley Road," he explained.
"The removal of the parking bays which currently calm traffic and provide an effective chicane, will make cycling more dangerous not less."
Elsewhere, parking barriers may be needed in a Lancashire car park after it was breached by a group of travellers last week.
