Security bollards are being highlighted as the answer to stop nuisance drivers around a McDonald's restaurant in Gloucestershire.

The Barnwood outlet has been victim to noisy motorists causing havoc for nearby residents and have "disturbed the peace" for many in the area.

The fast food chain agreed to install the barriers after complaints from the police and community officers about loud music being played from cars in the parking spaces outside Kwik Fit and Blockbusters in Northbrook Road.

McDonald's, which has 1250 outlets across the UK, had already taken steps to quell this problem by putting up signs telling people to respect the lives of those in the area, but this latest move aims to stamp it out once and for all.

PC Andy Plant, from the local policing team, told This Is Gloucestershire: "The warnings we gave out meant that if the offending person or vehicle was spotted behaving badly again the vehicle could be seized and crushed."
