Next-door neighbours in a Warwickshire town have installed security bollards after having their cars stolen within two weeks of each other.

According to the Kenilworth Weekly News, Sharon Swords and her son Adam, together with Phillip and Janice Essam, have spent over £1,000 on security measures since the thefts.

Ms Swords' Audi TT was stolen from her drive on Friday January 7th and Mr and Mrs Essam's Subaru Impreza was stolen on Thursday January 20th.

The security bollards and a CCTV system have since been installed because the neighbours feel the police have not done enough to help them.

Mr Essam told the newspaper: "We came home to find the house had been ransacked as the thieves searched the house for my spare keys.

"Since then we've had CCTV installed and everyone in the road is on lockdown, because we feel like we can't rely on the police to protect us."

This month, security bollards replaced a damaged car park wall in Bedfont, Hounslow, which one councillor felt endangered pedestrians.ADNFCR-3337-ID-800375708-ADNFCR
