Councillors have officially cut the ribbon to unveil a new play area in Stoneyford, Lisburn, Northern Ireland.
The £60,000 project, which received 75 per cent of the fund from the Lagan Rural Partnership, is hoped to be a hit with residents and children from the surrounding area and is the first of five set to be developed by the Lisburn City Council.
It is a result of years of planning on the Barrack Hill project from the authority and it is part of the long-term vision of its members of improving the amount of leisure facilities around the area.
Councillor Thomas Beckett, chairman of the council's leisure services committee, said: "It is very important that young people have somewhere safe to play with their family and friends; and thanks to the provision of this site by the developer this has been possible."
Many authorities across the UK are investing in play areas with a recent £110,000 project being completed in Shipley, Derbyshire.
