Temporary fencing solutions have been installed on an estate in Norwich after youngsters were found to be coming close to an electrical substation.

Situated in Glenn Road, Porlingland, the electrical unit has been recently surrounded by crumbling walls, providing a possible dangerous situation for children playing close to it.

Local resident Steve Fowkes told edp24.co.uk that the current protection is not enough and called for the substation's power company to do more.

"They've [local children] got nothing to do on the estate and so play football up near there and if the ball goes in they will just go in and get it because its so easy to get access to," he told the news provider.

"They call it the danger box because it has got the danger signs on it. If something goes wrong then they could be hit by 11,000 plus volts. All it takes is for something to go wrong, and things do go wrong."

A similar situation occurred in Brackley in June after a resident raised the alarm over poor security at a chemical site in the local area.
