Vandals will now have to compete against metal railings following complaints of anti-social behaviour.

In a joint effort by councils, police, Mercian Housing Association and residents in Bedworth Heath, Warwickshire, imposing fencing has been put up in an estate within the region aimed at stopping vandals striking again.

The fence is complete with a lockable gate and is designed to stop criminals causing havoc around the area.

Damon Brown, Bedworth Heath councillor, told the Coventry Telegraph: "The new fencing has been designed to eliminate a blind spot that was a magnet for vandalism in the area. The metal railings and gate provides a real sense of security and I would like to thank everyone involved for their persistence in getting this problem resolved."

Residents were also rejoicing in Cambridge after a similar scheme was introduced by the town's council.

The Cambridge News reported that new bollards would be installed on Rustat Avenue aiming to stop boy racers and "nuisance youths".
