More security bollards may have to be installed in Reading after the town celebrated the arrival of a new Apple store.
Around 600 people arrived at The Oracle shopping centre to see the opening of the outlet, Apple's 30th in the UK, providing people with access to the company's products as well as in-store help.
Getreading.co.uk reports that staff welcomed people at the doors and gave each a free commemorative t-shirt.
Ahead of its opening, Tim Smith, executive director of Reading UK CIC, told the news provider that the store's opening is part of a wider-development in the town.
"What is being demonstrated is the dynamic nature of retail in Reading," he said.
"We have always been well below the national average in terms of vacancy rates and ours is somewhere in the region of seven per cent and it's much higher nationally."
South Shields is also seeing regeneration, with the installation of security bollards among changes in the area.
