Security bollards that have replaced a "hazardous" car park wall in Bedfont, Hounslow, have been welcomed as a "great visual improvement" that will resist damage.
The 2ft wall in Bethany Waye car park collapsed seven months ago, but it has taken councillor Liz Mammatt all that time to get it replaced, the Hounslow Chronicle reports.
She said that the fallen bricks could pose a hazard to people walking around the car park.
"It was suggested that bollards should be installed instead, like the rest of the car park, as they would be sturdier and less vulnerable to damage," she told the newspaper.
But as money wasn't available, the councillor had to wait until Christmas before some cash was released for the project.
"After seven months of persisting, in the week commencing January 9, the unsightly knocked-down wall has been removed and replaced with bollards - a great visual improvement on the rubble - which should resist damage," Ms Mammatt told the newspaper.
A spokesperson for the council told the newspaper that while the wall was an eyesore, it did not feel it constituted a safety hazard. But it was happy to release funds to replace the wall when they became available.
Recently, it was recommended that security were installed on a road in Maldon, following two large vehicles overturning within weeks of each other.
