Firms and organisations may want to consider using security fencing as part of 'hybrid' protection systems in order to minimise costs during the current difficult financial climate.

According to Pauline Norstrom, CCTV section chair for the British Security Industry Association, the trade organisation for the professional security industry in the UK, an amalgam of old and new systems is increasingly being adopted by businesses.

"The difficult financial environment that businesses have been facing for the past few years has resulted in customers increasingly relying on hybrid security solutions to protect their premises," Ms Norstrom said.

"This means that existing equipment is being integrated with new systems and technology, in order to make the best use of what is already there."

Recently, the BSIA welcomed the news that the Security Industry Authority is to be removed from the government's Public Bodies Bill – meaning it will not be one of the quangos to be abolished.ADNFCR-3337-ID-800478303-ADNFCR
