Anti-trespass security fencing is part of a new plan to build homes in Hertfordshire, it has been reported.
Developments on sites on Thackery and Commbelands were expected to be given the green light at a planning control meeting last night, which was organised by North Hertfordshire District Council (NHDC), Royston News reports.
An original plan to build 92 properties has been reduced to 59 by the developer, Fairview New Homes.
However, construction should not get underway before "trespass proof" security fencing, to ensure residents do not walk onto a nearby railway line, is installed.
Additionally, a traffic management plan should be put in place along with surface water drainage measures to reduce risk of flooding.
A spokesperson from NHDC said: "It is our recommendation that planning permission be granted subject to the applicant first entering into a section 106 legal agreement with the council ... including a named diversion of funds to Royston Town Council."
Fairview had originally wanted to build 250 homes, but was opposed by campaigners from the North Royston Action Group.
Earlier this month, a plan to install perimeter security fencing around a care home complex in Manchester was backed by a councillor.
