Security fencing has played an unlikely part in a burglary investigation.

According to getreading.co.uk, a burglar has been detected after he mistakenly ripped his glove on the security fencing of the home he had just robbed in Reading's Sonning area earlier this year.

After ripping the clothing on the fence, Pawel Pierzga fled the scene of the crime. But the scrap of latex glove that remained was analysed by the police forensics team and they were then able to track him down.

The 25-year-old, who admitted to the crime last month, appeared before Reading magistrates last week. He was remanded in custody and will learn of his sentence next Friday, October 22nd.

A contributor to getreading's website, discussing the case, called the forensics operation akin to "CSI Reading", and also offered a funny take on the situation. "You could say he had no de-fence", the person said.
