The installation of security fencing will make room for the introduction of new equipment at a skate park in East Sussex.

After close to two years of waiting, the users of the park, in Pevensey, will benefit from a shelter and a bench, the Eastbourne Herald reported.

The park, which began life as a half pipe ten years ago, has been developed by its users who have built a track around it.

The Pevensey Local Action Team (LAT) has been working to offer more space at the site and, after Pevensey Parish Council agreed to expand the park and install new fencing, there will be enough room for the new equipment.

It has taken over a year to secure planning permission, the newspaper said.

Owen Visick from the Pevensey LAT told the newspaper: "We're all glad to see something happening at last, and we look forward to getting the shelter and bench in place so that the youngsters can start to enjoy their new site next spring."

Recently, it was announced that security fencing would be part of a £200,000 development in Walsall to revamp one its parks.
