Security fencing may have stopped a man falling into freezing water after he tripped on a quayside mooring ring.

Peter Wray tripped on the ring on a stretch of Ferrara Quay, at Swansea Marina, that did not have protective security fencing, thisissouthwales.co.uk reports.

The 60-year-old was in the water for between 20 and 25 minutes before another man, David Bolton, leapt in to rescue him, on Tuesday evening.
Both men were rescued by the emergency services and taken to hospital.

"It was very cold. I was wearing my work clothes, which were very heavy," Mr Wray told the news provider.

"I was shouting, but it was a very quiet night," he said.

Luckily Mr Bolton, who was passing with his wife, heard the man's cries.

"A male person in the water had been rescued by a passer-by before the arrival of fire service personnel and conveyed to hospital suffering hypothermia," a fire service spokesperson told the news provider.ADNFCR-3337-ID-800412455-ADNFCR
