St Anne's pier, which has stood since 1885, is set for renovation after the third phase of improvements was given the green light by the council.
The work will help restore the pier's frontage to its former glory and will include illuminated columns, new surfacing and ornamental security bollards. The pier continues to be a prime attraction for people visiting the area, despite losing the seaward end in a fire in the 1970s.
Lytham and St Anne's Express reported that the renovation will be paid for by the Pier Company in partnership with Fylde Local Strategic Partnership, costing £75,000.
Bernard Whittle, LSP chairman, told the source: "The pier and forecourt are a focal point of the prom and town centre. The Pier Company has spent a lot of money recently on a new veranda at the front of the building to give it a Victorian look, and also on new lights."
St Anne's Pier provides shops amusements, a cafe and a ten-pin bowling alley and still remains a tourist attraction for the area today.
