Temporary security fencing has been erected around gardens and lawns in Bexhill-on-Sea in order to allow them to improve over the harsh winter period.
The fencing is the last stage of improvement works for the town's West Parade promenade, which is opened to the public once again this weekend, the Bexhill-on-Sea Observer said.
Rother district's Council's Next Wave scheme is behind the improvements, with additional seating and signage being deployed.
The temporary security fencing is part of the last-remaining measures employed because the cold weather has delayed some projects.
Contractors will return to the site in the new year to iron out any unresolved issues, the newspaper said.
Project sponsor councillor Christopher Starnes told the newspaper: "It is good news that we are able to open the promenade in time for Christmas.
"We do ask members of the public to remember there is still some work to be done, even though they can now walk on the promenade again. However, what has been done so far gives a fantastic glimpse of how we are making the most of Bexhill’s seafront," he added.
