Residents in Troston, Suffolk, are worried that they could lose a play area in their village to make way for a new housing development.
The Bury Free Press reported that two weeks ago Greene King, owners of the land, told the village's parish council that it intended to use the green space to build 21 new homes.
Despite the plans being revised to just five properties it will mean that as soon as the security fencing is put up Troston will lose a play area that has been used by children for generations.
A St Edmundsbury Borough council spokeswoman told the source: "A designated playing field cannot be used unless it can be proved that it is no longer needed or there is provision of an equal or better space."
Whilst residents in Filton, South Gloucestershire, were rejoicing when they secured funding for a new play area there could be a few tears shed when the bulldozers move into Troston taking away the beloved children's play park.
