Residents in Whitby are to be asked for their views on the design of a proposed playground in the area, which could include the introduction of play area fencing.

Locals will be able to discuss what they would like to see in the play area, set to be installed in Byland Road, when a meeting takes place at a nearby primary school.

Design and different types of equipment are believed to be among the topics to be discussed as Scarborough Borough Council looks for ideas on the site, reports the Whitby Gazette.

Furthermore, children will be asked for their views of what they would like included ahead of the council's Parks team designing what will be put in place.

In the future, consultation will also take place with the community on the surrounding green space and what residents would like done with it, the news provider added.

Meanwhile, play area fencing will also be installed in Norton following a £70,000 grant.
