Work to install new play area equipment worth £62,000 will begin next month in Marham, Norfolk.

The scheme is part of an overall makeover by the town's parish council to rejuvenate the area by creating more activities for children and young people. It is hoped that the security fencing will go up on February 6th to signal the start of the work.

An official opening ceremony is planned for April but there is no word as of yet if there will be a brass band or the popping of champagne as there was for the opening of a play park in South Shields.

Marham's new site will include a host of fun facilities for youngsters, including a multi-use games area, children's play equipment and secure fencing.

Tina Hawkins, a member of the team working on the plans, told Lynn News: "Marham Parish Council is pleased and excited to be finally starting to put together the multi-use games area and play equipment. It will make it a safer area for youngsters to play in."
