Upgrade the security of fencing and gates

Designing a robust perimeter security system requires an in-depth approach, with consideration as to how all the different elements of your strategy will work together. In many cases, you may not need to install an entirely new system, but instead enhance your existing perimeter fencing with additional elements. Similarly, if you have decided to build from scratch then consider how your strategy could be strengthened. Is your site as safe as it can possibly be within your budget?

Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems

A Perimeter Intrusion Detection System (PIDS) is a fence-mounted sensor that monitors and detects any form of intrusion. It’s a simple and effective way to enhance your perimeter security – flexible enough to be integrated with your existing fencing, whatever its size.

For example, our Jaktronic® PIDS works by picking up vibrations along the sensor line, caused by an intrusion attempt. The reflected wave is sent back to the control unit, which will display the breach location on a simple user interface. This Reflective Wave Technology is fast, reliable and operates like a constant radar.

There are several advantages to using these types of PIDS. Very early warnings of suspicious activity are possible and attempts at intrusion can be detected almost instantly; this is particularly useful for larger sites where total security coverage is difficult. Furthermore, a PIDS can fit on top of your current fencing, whether it’s chain link, welded mesh or other. They are also discreet solutions.

Matching gates and security toppings

An important note when ensuring complete perimeter security is that the gates should match the style of your fence. This includes their height, composition and finish. Integration is especially significant if you have a Security Rated fence, since failure to match the two can leave your site vulnerable. Don’t forget about the gate locks too: critical to secure all access points. Jacksons Fencing supplies a range of gate locks for steel gates, which can be used for single or double-leaf manual gates.

Adding security toppings is an excellent way to strengthen the security of your fencing. Fence spikes and toppings are designed for fencing and gates in and around the perimeter to increase levels of security against intrusion, damage, vandalism or terrorism. They are particularly effective as an anti-climb solution.

Jacksons Fencing provides a wide range of security toppings including barbed wire, spikes and rotary systems for fences, walls and drainpipes – each designed to deter and prevent intruder entry to your premises:
