Schools located near busy roads may want to consider installing security bollards as a way to protect their pupils.
This week, it was reported that a school in Staffordshire has put up bollards after parents said they were concerned for their children's safety.
The concrete bollards have been deployed at Newstead Primary School after cars were spotted pulling up on the pavements outside it when pupils were being dropped off and picked up, the Sentinel said.
Councillor and school governor Roy Naylor spoke to the newspaper about the "potentially dangerous" situation.
"You can't put a price on children's safety. The problem we had were parents were parking on the pavements outside school and blocking the way for children at the end of the day.
"I'm delighted that we've been able to do something to improve road safety at the school."
This month, thisiskent.co.uk reported that a proposal to remove metal railings in Tonbridge is concerning councillors who are worried about the welfare of schoolchildren.
