Building work has commenced on a new school building in Wales which could include the use of school fencing.

Pendoylan Church primary school, situated near Cowbridge, will have a new building for pupils to learn in when it is completed in March next year, while a separate refurbishment and update programme will be completed by July.

The new building is part of a £3.6 million construction programme that will house a new assembly hall, four classrooms and a creative arts teaching area, reports walesonline.co.uk.

Head teacher Lynn Murray told the news provider that the new building will come as welcome relief to teachers.

"We have expanded using portacabins and temporary facilities but while staff have managed brilliantly we are in need of a new building that will do justice to our standard of teaching," she explained.

Situated in the Vale of Glamorgan, Pendolyan has a population of just under 400 people.
